Jeremy Barnicle, Chief Development and Communications Officer, will share how he’s worked on behalf of Mercy Corps to raise private gifts, build relationships with corporate and foundation donors, and communicate the agency’s mission to the general public.

3) Formic Media Seminar Series: WordPress 101 – Wednesday December 08, 5:30pm-7:00pm

WordPress is one of the most widely used open-source content management systems for blogs and websites. The reason for this is due to its out of the box simplicity, usability and variety of plugins that can make a webmaster’s life a whole lot easier. Need to enhance your SEO presence? Try using the “All in One SEO Pack” plugin. Are you looking to add an ecommerce shopping cart to your site? There’s a plugin for that too. The Formic Media team will walk attendees through the WordPress interface to show off its value and appeal, recommend specific plugins, review how to install it, demonstrate how to use the CMS, and more. 4) Leveraging LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter – Thursday December 9th, 10:00am-4:00pm

Social Media has become a very important piece of the Internet Marketing puzzle. In this five-hour Intermediate course, Colleen Wright of Search Engine Academy Northwest will walk through some critical components needed to create a successful Social Media campaign for any business. One of Portland Business Alliance’s most popular networking programs, Business Leads Exchange is geared toward building lasting business relationships and sharing valuable business leads. This program consists of a sponsor presentation, small group break-out sessions of focused networking, and a facilitated group discussion on various business-relevant topics. It is held the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.  With regular attendance at 75+ members, the Business Leads Exchange is an effective means for participants to gain new leads that can help grow their business.
